Services for the Parish of Sompting are usually held at St Peter’s church. Communion is 9am on the first and second Sunday of the month.
St. Mary’s church
St. Mary’s church is situated between Worthing and Lancing, just off the busy A27 dual carriageway at the northern edge of Sompting village. It is signposted as ‘Sompting Parish Church’ – turn left (north) off the A27 onto Church Lane. Please use postcode BN15 0AZ if you’re relying on satellite navigation.
You’ll find it at Ordnance Survey grid reference TQ161056, or click here for a detailed map.
The church is an ancient and historic building. It is suitable for assisted disabled visitors, although wheelchair users will find parts of the church inaccessible. Some areas of the grounds are unsuitable for wheelchairs and there is an inclined path between the car park and church buildings.
St Mary’s church is without heating at the moment. There are no regular services there. It may be closed for visitors; enquiries should be made of the Churchwardens. The Friends of Sompting Church and the PCC are endeavouring to raise enough money for new heating. Please make contributions to The Friends of Sompting Church. To donate £5 by mobile phone in the UK, simply text MARY17 to 70070.
